An Exciting & Fun Hobby

Flying radio controlled (RC) models is an exciting hobby and offers challenges and rewards to the young and the old.

RC flying isn’t limited to the “standard” motorized aeroplane. A wide variety of models and styles are available: trainers, gliders, aerobatic pattern models, 3D, pylon racers, jets, helicopters.

Our main flying field is near St Helens – see our location map below.

How It All Began

A lonely flyer needed someone to play with so he put a add in the local shop window and a the club was born

In September 2013, a bunch of model flyer enthusiasts met on a make-shift flying field in Scamander. Shortly afterwards, the East Coast RC Flyers club was born.

When the membership and the model sizes grew, an alternative site had to be found. It was an excellent find. For almost ten years, the club’s home is at Reid’s Rd, St Helens

Join Us

The rise of the Asian economy has dramatically lowered the prices of model aircraft, electronics, and mechanical parts. Not too long ago, we had to spend a small fortune on our hobby, which deterred many potential newcomers.

Today, around $300 can buy you a good trainer and all the necessary equipment.
